Nine payers in the US health sector have recently broadened their horizons by forming new alliances and partnerships. Let’s look at the nine payer expansions one by one.
- Partnership: CareSource, a managed care firm based in Dayton, Ohio, and TrueCare, a Mississippi provider-sponsored health plan, established a strategic agreement ahead of TrueCare’s bid to serve Medicaid users in Mississippi. Temple Health, situated in Philadelphia, has joined Oscar Health’s network. More than 1,300 doctors will be available, as well as access to Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase campuses and services.
- Alliances: Through a partnership with Mineral, Bright HealthCare is providing firms with human resources solutions as well as health coverage. The move comes after Cigna and New Enterprise Associates joined together to invest $750 million in the insurance.
- Tappings: Alignment Healthcare’s Medicare Advantage plan, Alignment Health Plan, is the first plan to cover a new multi-cancer screening test from Grail. The blood test detects 50 kinds of cancers and will be covered in California and North Carolina in 2022.
- Join hands: Allina Health Aetna, a joint venture, has announced four new health plans for companies and self-insured clients. Nasco, a healthcare technology business, was wholly bought by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. The company, which was previously held by six Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates, has been critical to the payer’s claims processing, enrollment, and client advocacy.
- Collaboration: Humana expanded its Medicare Advantage network by adding Leesburg, Va.-based Loudoun Medical Group to its ranks. The move brings 330 providers, 35 specialties and 150 locations between Virginia and Maryland into Humana’s network.
