To commemorate National Wellness Month, Blue Cross As part of its second annual “Mindful Mondays” initiative, Blue Shield of Massachusetts (“Blue Cross”) is sponsoring free Bluebikes Adventure Passes every Monday in August, beginning August 1. The free passes will be available in all 11 municipalities served by the system, including Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown. Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, a municipally owned and operated by Lyft. Riders can take advantage of free passes on “Mindful Mondays” by downloading and opening the Bluebikes app, selecting “Adventure Pass,” and entering the appropriate code. Each code entitles you to one free Adventure Pass, which entitles you to an unlimited number of two-hour rides within a 24-hour period. Outdoor activities, such as riding, and mindfulness practices have been shown to significantly improve mental health and lessen sadness, anxiety, PTSD, and other difficulties. One recent study found that regular physical activity reduces an individual’s risk of depression by up to 30%, while another study found that utilizing mindfulness training software developed by Brown University for at least a month reduced anxiety by 60%. “The last several years have reinforced that mental health is essential to overall wellbeing, which is aligned with our commitment to supporting healthy communities across the Commonwealth,” said Jeff Bellows, vice president of corporate citizenship and public affairs at Blue Cross.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
