Payers are increasingly leveraging collaborative partnerships to develop AI models designed to improve early intervention for high risk patients. Health insurers are also interested in collaborating with providers to expand virtual care to not only provide more flexibility to members, but to also provide more effective platforms for triaging patients when they need care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the Microsoft Envision U.S. Healthcare Summit, Microsoft conducted interviews with executives at Aetna CVS Health and Humana to highlight some of the ways these companies are adapting to consumerization of healthcare and using health tech to improve patient outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a fireside chat with Dr David Rhew, the Global Chief Medical Officer of Microsoft, Aetna CVS Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kyu Rhee pointed out that with 35 million online members, the company is well-positioned to provide healthcare in many forms from remote patient monitoring, enabling a patient-centric approach to behavioral health and virtual-first care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAI and machine learning are so important to provide pattern recognition and to provide nudges for patients and providers [for remote patient monitoring,\u201d Rhee said. He also noted that the company is \u201cdoubling down on Aetna\u2019s virtual-first primary care and offering 24-7 urgent care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
