Square Health, a private digital healthcare provider for insurance companies and corporations in the United Kingdom, has acquired Push Doctor, a digital GP provider based in Manchester. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
- Consultations: Since its inception in 2013, Push Doctor has been a pioneer in the field of medical video consultations in the United Kingdom. More than five million patients are served by the platform, which is funded by the NHS and private insurers. The service is used by NHS-registered GPs, nurses, physiotherapists, and pharmacists to engage with their patients remotely.
- Announcement: After the companies announced their joint venture, Push Doctor’s platform will merge as a new brand and division into the Square Health service portfolio. In January 2021 Push Doctor was chosen as a partner for GP practices in the west of London enabling 300,000 British patients to book appointments online via smartphone.
- Collaborations: Push Doctor collaborated with the NHS in September 2019 to give free GP appointments to over 2.1 million people in the UK, resulting in a considerable reduction in waiting times. Push Doctor was also chosen as one of 20 innovators to participate in digital health. London accelerator program, which aims to accelerate innovation in the NHS.
- Capability: Square Health’s co-founder Dr Bippon Vinayak said: “We are delighted to welcome the very capable Push Doctor team to the Square Health family. The two businesses are highly complementary, working in separate sectors and allow the opportunity to bring the best in clinical, technological and service delivery.”
- Extension: Push Doctor’s co-founder and managing director Matt Elcock stated: “I’m very excited to be working with Bippon and his team and am sure the business will go from strength to strength as we extend our range of services to customers and support the NHS at this critical time.”
