Twitter has a new CEO, and it’s another Indian-origin engineer in charge of one of the world’s largest digital companies. The hiring of Parag Agrawal as the next CEO of Twitter has piqued the interest of everyone, especially Indians.

Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he would be stepping down as the microblogging platform’s CEO. All eyes then turned to Twitter’s new CEO, Parag Agrawal, who many people had never heard of before. The news was large enough, though, as Parag Agrawal’s Twitter following increased tenfold in just one night.
2. Origin:
Parag Agrawal, a BTech in Computer Science Engineering from IIT Bombay, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and the Chief Technology Officer at Twitter, is going to take over as CEO of Twitter, according to an announcement made by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.
3. Buzz:
More than Dorsey stepping down as CEO of Twitter, it was the news of Parag Agrawal replacing him that created a big buzz and especially among Indians. Parag Agrawal is still trending on Twitter, and rightly so as he joins a long list of Indian-origin CEOs including the likes of Sundar Pichai at Alphabet, Satya Nadella at Microsoft, Arvind Krishna at IBM.

A Twitter search of Parag Agrawal will draw a line of tweets about the IIT Bombay graduate and how another Indian is now leading one of the biggest tech companies in the world. The 2005 IIT Bombay graduate, as CTO, was responsible for Twitter’s pursuit of Blockchain and other decentralized technologies.
5. Experiences:
Since joining Twitter in 2011, Agarwal has led efforts on scaling Twitter Ads systems, as well as re-accelerating user growth by improving home timeline relevance. Prior to joining Twitter, he was involved with research in large-scale data management with collaborators at Microsoft Research, Yahoo! Research, and AT&T Labs.
