AWS launches the Agentic Shopping Assistant (aka ASA), packaging the technology and learnings behind Amazon's Alexa for Shopping so third-party retailers can deploy their own conversational AI shopping experiences in roughly 60 days.
Walmart rolls out its Prepaid Consolidation Program, allowing suppliers to ship under a single purchase order to one location while Walmart handles distribution across 42 regional centers.

Dick's Posts Strong Q1 Results as Foot Locker Turnaround Holds Dick's Sporting Goods reported Q1 sales of $5.17 billion, up 62.7% year-over-year, beating analyst estimates as its core business posted 6% comp sales growth. Walmart Introduces New Program to Simplify Supplier Logistics Walmart introduced a new Prepaid Consolidation Program that simplifies supplier logistics by allowing one national purchase order to a single location instead of multiple orders to separate facilities. 4.	Lidl U.S. Names COO Alan Barry as Its Next CEO Effective July Lidl US named COO Alan Barry as its next CEO, effective July, succeeding Joel Rampoldt who stepped down in January. Barry, a two-decade Lidl veteran, joined the US division in 2024. Maciej Tylkowski and Jassine Ouali will also join as COO and chief customer officer, reinforcing the discounter's long-term US growth strategy. (Read More)
5.	SPAR Becomes First Austrian Retailer to Use Inventory Robots SPAR became the first Austrian food retailer to deploy an inventory robot in regular store operations. After a successful five-month trial, the robot scans shelves multiple times daily, identifies gaps and transmits data to staff devices. The initiative has now expanded to six stores, improving availability and reducing workload. (Read More)
