Fast Five
Brought to you by :

Hello Omni Talks Fans! I have had a lot of hangovers in my day, but none quite compare to the one I am feeling after attending NRF last week.

2023 has shot out of a cannon faster than my Arizona Cardinals exited the playoff picture this past year. Or said another way, even faster than how quickly in-store shelf signage is changing, as you will see in the video above.

Anne and I are already headed back to Las Vegas next week for Manifest, the who's who conference in supply chain, with hopes of rubbing elbows with everyone from retail executives to shipping magnates.

Ok, that last point isn't really as much of a hope as it is a sentence I just wanted to write to scratch, "shipping magnates," off my journalism bucket list, but you never know!

In Today's Fast Five Headlines:

1.
Amazon nixed its "AmazonSmile" charity program in the same week it began laying off 18,000 employees. (Read More)
2.
Lowe's plans to pilot in-store birthday parties for kids at 10 stores throughout the country. (Read More)

4.

And don't look now, but another Chinese shopping app, Temu, from the owners of Pinduoduo, which offers insanely low prices direct-from-factory, was the most downloaded free app on Apple this past fall. (Read More)

Be careful out there,

P.S. Be sure to check out last week's Fast Five podcast with A&M's Jonathan Sharp and Michael Prendergast.

Omni Talk fans will find Jonathan's points on what the Starbucks/DoorDash partnership means for the future of "third places" quite interesting.
