In this week’s Fast Five Podcast, Chris and Anne discuss Amazon’s RxPass, Dollar General’s new mobile health clinics, Walmart’s latest play to appeal to small businesses, the latest Chinese shopping app, Temu, to rocket up the charts, and whether Amazon’s decision to close an Amazon Fresh store in London after only 18 months heralds the end of Amazon’s grocery store plans.

Fast Five
Brought to you by :

Hello Omni Talk Fans! Mrs. Omni Talk is off on a girls trip to Nashville this weekend, I recently got a TV installed in the bedroom, and all that means a Star Wars marathon with Omni Talk Thing 1 and Thing 2 awaits me all weekend long.

If Mrs.Omni Talk arrives back Sunday to find us all asleep with empty bags of Doritos beside us and empty bottles of Coke on the nightstand, I will have considered the weekend a raging success.

In other more mental picture appealing news, Anne and I are headed out to Las Vegas next week for the Manifest Conference to rub elbows with fellow supply chain enthusiasts, and then we are back in Minneapolis Friday morning to keynote SPS Commerce’s annual sales kickoff meeting.

It promises to be one heck of another whirlwind week, so until then, enjoy this week’s Fast Five!

In Today’s Fast Five Podcast, Anne and I:

- Exhibited tempered enthusiasm (if there is such a thing) over Amazon’s launch of RxPass which gives Prime members as many drugs as they need from a list of 50 generic medications for just $5 per month.

- Compared and contrasted Dollar General’s mobile clinic approach with Rite Aid’s “pharmacy desert” pilot.

- Disagreed over the potential financial impact of Walmart’s new Walmart Business initiative.

- Discussed why we plan to keep a close eye on the new Chinese shopping app, Temu, from the makers of Pinduoduo, that is rocketing up the download charts.

- And closed with an examination of what Amazon’s decision to close one of its London Amazon Fresh stores, after just 18 months, means for the future of Just Walk Out technology in grocery and for Amazon’s physical grocery store plans overall.

There’s all that, plus heart-shaped goat milk soaps, rear seat warmers, and Anne’s honest admission of whether or not she has the McDonald’s app on her phone.
