Melanie Egorin, a highly experienced hand in matters of health policy, may soon become part of the Department of Health and Human Services with President Joe Biden announcing his intent to nominate her to serve as Assistant Secretary.
- Egorin has nearly 25 years of health policy experience, including more than 15 years with the federal government. She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Emory University and a Ph.D. from the University of California San Francisco.
- A nationally recognized expert for breadth and depth of strategic policy knowledge in federal health programs and the American health systems, Egorin is currently serving as the deputy staff director for the health subcommittee and professional tax staff for the committee on Ways and Means in the US House of Representative.
- Prior to joining Ways and Means, Egorin was a senior Analyst at US Government Accountability Office, focusing on a range of public payer health policy issues, including Medicare, managed care programs for dual-eligible beneficiaries, Medicare payment policy for novel technologies, the Ryan White CARE Act, and Veteran’s health care services.
- Throughout her career, Egorin has been recognized for her collaborative style, bipartisan leadership, mentorship.
