Top Leadership Changes in Payer Industry in April

A lot of appointments and promotions swirled in the healthcare market. Here are some of the most influential ones:

1. Blue Cross and Blue Shield Appointments: BCBS Louisiana promoted Bryan Camerlinck as executive vice president and COO and Adam Short as senior vice president and CFO. BCBS  Minnesota promoted Amy Hudson as vice president of major accounts and Paul Valley as vice president of commercial sales. CareFirst has appointed Tich Changamire as its new CMO, and David Schwartz vice president of public policy and federal affairs. Kristi Huber is the new senior vice president and chief marketing officer at BCBS North Dakota and Regence BlueShield of Idaho named Scott Jones interim market president.
2.  New faces: UPMC Health Plans named Crystal Clark as the deputy director for its Center for Social Impact. Triple-S Management Corp. appointed Victor Haddock-Morales as executive vice president and CFO. Jillian Jweinat became vice president and COO of  Northwell Direct.
3.  Eminent executives hired to enhance the development: Independence Health Group promoted Juan Lopez as executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer of the company. Oscar Health announced Okiki Louis will be the president of Oscar Medical Group. CareSource named Scott Markovich executive vice president of markets and products for the organization.
4. New risings and leaderships to watch out for: UCare hired Darin McDonald as vice president and CIO. Dan Mendelson, founder and former CEO of Avalere Health, will lead a new healthcare innovation group at JPMorgan Chase. Amy Meister has been named chief medical health and wellness officer of UPMC’s Work partners and Commercial Products.
5. New guides to lead the way: Amerigroup Tennessee named Chad Pendleton president. James Schuster has been promoted to the chief medical officer of UPMC Health Plan. UnitedHealthcare named Brian Thompson CEO. Carrie Whitcher is UPMC Health Plan’s new chief quality officer and vice president of quality improvement and performance.  Marie-Aline Zappia-Kuzmack is the new chief administrative officer at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii.
