There has been a lot of movers and shakers in the month of May this year in the payer market. The new heralds are appointed with the aim to push healthcare measures forward and to provide better patient outcomes in the upcoming months. The following payer executive changes were announced in May:
- New VPs and CEOs :Centene named Drew Asher executive vice president and CFO and Suzy DePrizio senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Cigna named Jamie Benedict president of its Medicare Advantage plans in Ohio. And HealthPartners named Randy Billings senior vice president of provider partnerships.
- New executives to lead the healthcare world: Christal Eshelman was appointed regional manager of integrated managed care in North Central Washington for Community Health Plan of Washington and CVS Health named Shawn Guertin as its new CFO. The newly combined Tufts Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care named Cain Hayes its new CEO and Molina Healthcare appointed Brian Maddy plan president of Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin.
- Imminent personnel to reign in a different field: Sutter Health | Aetna named Jeremy Gallus head of market development and Mordechai Pavlovsky, MD, chief medical officer and head of operations and innovation. Trent Haywood, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Zing Health. Health Alliance Plan named Brian Keane vice president of Medicaid.
- Promotions and appointments : Health Alliance Plan named Kristy O’Connor Strain director of Medicare product and Medicare sales operations. Priority Health promoted Megan Schmidt to senior vice president of employer solutions, the health insurer said in a news release. Cambia Health Solutions named Amadou Yattassaye executive vice president of market growth.
- Executives to watch out for: Excellus BlueCross BlueShield appointed James Reed CEO of the nonprofit health plan and its parent company, The Lifetime Healthcare Companies whereas Jayson Ronk joined Blue Cross of Idaho as vice president of public affairs. Combined Insurance named Richard Williams president. First Choice Health hired Troy Williams as vice president of health system partnerships, the health insurer said in a news release. Sam Yamoah will join Cambia Health Solutions as chief strategy and innovation officer.
