Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross) has been named to the list of Best Companies for Dads for the second year in a row. The award honors businesses that excel in areas such as paid parental leave, perks, and flexible work hours. The criterion for this year’s selection procedure included how corporations assisted parents and caregivers during the COVID-19 crisis.
- Programs: More than 400 questions about leave policies, perks, childcare, flexibility, employee resource groups, and more are included in the Seramount (previously Working Mother Media) Best Companies for Dads application for 2021. It examines the programs’ availability and use, as well as the responsibility of the several managers that oversee them.
- Place for dads: “Dads continue to be outspoken about wanting to be equal partners when it comes to parenting responsibilities and needing the flexibility from their employer in order to do so,” says Subha V. Barry, president of Seramount. “Our Best Companies for Dads are listening to their employees. They’ve made their leave policies more inclusive and have increased the support offered to families during a time when parents and caregivers are constantly juggling home and work life.”
- Flexibility: “The past year has demonstrated a need for greater flexibility and support for all our working parents,” said Stephanie Browne, vice president of talent acquisition and chief diversity officer at Blue Cross. “I am thrilled our efforts to ensure working dads have the tools they need to be their best at work and at home have earned us this distinction.”
- Focused: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is a community-focused, tax-paying, not-for-profit health plan headquartered in Boston. They are committed to the relentless pursuit of quality, affordable health care with an unparalleled consumer experience. Consistent with their promise to always put our members first, they are rated among the nation’s best health plans for member satisfaction and quality.
- Culture change: Working Mother Media, a division of Bonnier Corp., publishes Working Mother magazine and its companion website, workingmother.com. The Working Mother Research Institute, the National Association for Female Executives, Diversity Best Practices, and Culture@Work are also units within WMM. WMM’s mission is to serve as a champion of culture change, and Working Mother magazine is the only national magazine for career-committed mothers.
