Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health has joined as an owner of Peak Health, a health plan launched by Morgantown-based West Virginia University Medicine.
Peak Health serves 32,000 WVU Medicine employees and dependents and will enter the West Virginia consumer market in 2024 with Medicare Advantage and small business plans, according to a Jan. 27 news release.
The plan will cover 8,000 Valley Health employees beginning in 2024.
Huntington, W.Va.-based Mountain Health Network and Marshall Health are also co-owners of the plan.
In September 2022, WVU Medicine President and CEO Albert Wright said Peak Health is “the iPhone of health insurance” because it aims to replace traditional administrative layers between patients and providers.
