Highmark Blue Shield has added two health systems in Southeastern Pennsylvania ahead of its move into the region. The new contracts are with Grand View Health and Doylestown Health. Highmark plans to offer health insurance in the region from January 1 and aims to introduce Medicare Advantage and Medicaid/Medicare dual-eligible plans by 2025.
Highmark Blue Shield, headquartered in Pittsburgh, has expanded its network by adding two health systems in Southeastern Pennsylvania in preparation for its upcoming move into the region. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal on July 19, the newly formed contracts are with Grand View Health in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, and Doylestown Health in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
These two health systems join Temple Health and Penn Medicine, both based in Philadelphia, which had previously signed contracts with Highmark earlier in the year. The addition of these healthcare providers further strengthens Highmark’s network and enhances its ability to serve the community.
Dan Tropeano, Highmark’s segment president for southeastern Pennsylvania, stated that the insurer is on schedule to begin offering small and large group health insurance in the region starting from January 1. Additionally, Highmark has set its sights on introducing Medicare Advantage and Medicaid/Medicare dual-eligible plans by 2025.
The expansion of Highmark’s network and its plans to enter the Medicare Advantage and Medicaid/Medicare dual-eligible plans markets reflect the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare options to individuals and communities in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region.
