LaShawn McIver has been selected as the new Chief Health Equity Officer at AHIP, the trade organization formerly known as America’s Health Insurance Plans.
McIver currently serves as the director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health. In her new role, she will spearhead AHIP’s health equity initiatives, focusing on developing strategies to enhance health equity for marginalized communities. Reporting directly to AHIP President and CEO Matt Eyles, McIver’s appointment will take effect immediately, according to a press release.
With an extensive background, McIver previously led government affairs and advocacy at the American Diabetes Association and boasts over two decades of experience in designing initiatives and public policy. She also served as the inaugural HIV/AIDS fellow for the Congressional Black Caucus’ Center for Policy Analysis and Research and worked as a program director at the Baltimore City Health Department.
Clarify Health Welcomes Terry Boch as Chief Commercial Officer

Boch transitions to Clarify Health from Diameter Health, where she held the same position, overseeing all go-to-market activities. Her impressive background includes over three decades of experience in sales, operations, and marketing, with notable roles at IBM Watson and InformedDNA.

Walgreens Health Appoints Monica Reed as Vice President of Strategy and Operations
Monica Reed has been named the new Vice President of Strategy and Operations for Walgreens Health Centers.
In her new position, Reed will lead efforts concerning Walgreens Health Corners, dedicated in-store spaces where licensed clinicians provide a range of health services, from preventive care and wellness checks to managing chronic conditions. Additionally, she will work to enhance the chain pharmacy’s presence in retail, virtual, and in-home healthcare services.
Reed brings a wealth of experience, including her most recent role at CareCentrix, a subsidiary of Walgreens Boots Alliance, where she served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations. Her previous experience includes positions at Express Scripts and Medco.
Lt. Cmdr. Abigail Becomes the First Official Mascot of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced that Lt. Cmdr. Abigail, a black Labrador retriever, has been appointed as the first official mascot of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps.
Named after the former First Lady of the U.S., Abigail Adams, Lt. Cmdr. Abigail will play a crucial role as a trained facility dog, providing therapeutic care to patients and Public Health Service Officers. The USPHS Commissioned Corps was established in 1789 to protect against the spread of disease from sailors returning from overseas.
In her new honorary role, Lt. Cmdr. Abigail holds a rank equal to that of her primary handler, although the position does not include salary or benefits.
