Clover Health has received approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to expand its service area to 101 new counties. Clover’s Medicare Advantage plans will be accessible to eligible consumers in 101 new counties across Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, and Alabama – a new state for the company – as of January 1, 2022, thanks to this approved service area extension.
- Coverage: Clover’s entire coverage area for its Medicare Advantage plans will expand to 209 counties across nine states as a result of this news. During the Annual Election Period, which runs from October 15 to December 7, those eligible for Medicare in any of the 209 counties can sign up for Clover’s plans.
- Programs: Clover’s programs will now be available to seniors in rural communities, who are more prone to encounter health inequities than those in more metropolitan settings. Cover Assistant hopes to improve care coordination, correct gaps in care, and minimize total medical expenses for those eligible for Medicare by tapping into its primary care physician network.
- Deal: Clover will end its existing co-branding deal with Walmart in eight Georgia counties in 2022, and all of the company’s plans will be operated purely under the Clover name. There will be no major changes to those programs’ benefits, and Clover anticipates no inconvenience for its members.
- Perks: Clover plans to roll out a slew of new advantages, some of which might be available to current Clover members as early as the third quarter of this year. Clover hopes to expand its over-the-counter benefit and add a grocery benefit to several of its plans, which would be available at a variety of major stores (including Walmart), local grocers, and regional chains.
- Teams: Nashville-based Clover’s employees are spread around the United States, with a team of technicians situated in Hong Kong. Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Vermont are among the 11 states where the firm manages Medicare recipients’ care.
