Evernorth Health Services, an arm of the Cigna Group, is acquiring telehealth platform Bright.md, aiming to bolster its virtual healthcare services in collaboration with MDLive. Bright.md offers asynchronous, triage, and care navigation telehealth services. MDLive, acquired by Cigna in 2021, plans to expand virtual primary care services, including health coaching for chronic conditions while introducing asynchronous care in 2024. Patients will undergo digital clinical interviews, which clinicians will review to provide diagnoses, care plans, prescriptions, or referrals to appropriate providers, enhancing remote healthcare accessibility and management.
Evernorth Health Services, a part of the Cigna Group, has made a strategic move by acquiring the telehealth platform Bright.md, the details of which remain undisclosed. This acquisition aims to bolster its existing virtual healthcare offerings in partnership with MDLive.
Founded in 2014, Bright.md specializes in providing asynchronous, triage, and care navigation telehealth services, as per an announcement made on October 10th, which was shared with Becker. Alongside this acquisition, MDLive is set to expand its virtual primary care services to incorporate health coaching for patients dealing with chronic conditions.
MDLive, which became part of the Cigna family in 2021, has plans to introduce asynchronous care for its clients and patients by 2024, along with enhanced support for managing chronic diseases and facilitating wellness visits. Patients will engage in a digital clinical interview, which will then be transformed into a comprehensive chart note. Following this, a clinician will review the information and provide a diagnosis, create a care plan, prescribe medication if needed, or direct the patient to a more suitable healthcare provider.
