Anthem is one of six founding firms collaborating with Fair Pay Workplace, a Seattle-based charity, to identify and close gender and racial pay inequalities. According to a recent release, the payer received accreditation after its activities were held to transparent regulations and standards. Anthem is required to follow an action plan to enhance internal pay equity as part of the accreditation.
- Globally recognized: Fair Pay Workplace, the globally recognized emblem of pay equity, today announced that six firms, including American Airlines Group Inc. and Anthem, Inc., have been certified as Fair Pay Workplaces. Each employer has agreed to implement a bespoke action plan based on their fair pay policies after undergoing a rigorous review of their data and procedures using a transparent set of criteria and standards.
- Diversity: “Anthem is committed to diversity and inclusion and to building a more equitable world — and it is incumbent upon us to lead, starting with fair pay for our own associates,” said Gail Boudreaux, Anthem president, and CEO. “As the trusted symbol of pay equity around the world, the mission of Fair Pay Workplace resonates deeply with Anthem. Fair pay is not only the right thing to do, it is critical to our ability to provide rewarding and fulfilling careers to transform whole health, simplify healthcare, and have a deeper impact in our communities, where our associates live and work.”
- Achievement: “Pay equity is measurable and calculable — and simply checking a box and claiming its achievement is no longer acceptable to employees, shareholders and other stakeholders,” said Heidi Durham, executive director of Fair Pay Workplace. “These companies that have been awarded certification are leading the way in ensuring equal pay for equal work throughout their organizations. They have demonstrated their commitment to working toward pay equity through ongoing analyses and are working in partnership with FPW to drive the achievement of their tailored action plans. Their employees and stakeholders should be proud.”
- Organisation: Fair Pay Workplace is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to eliminate pay discrepancies in the workplace based on gender, race, and ethnicity. The Fair Pay Workplace Certification, a globally recognized emblem of pay equity, is offered by FPW. FPW delivers the decisive measures needed to enable meaningful progress toward fair pay in today’s workplaces, based on a methodology created by experts.
- Alliance: Using a set of principles and criteria created by an alliance of professionals from forward-thinking enterprises, academia, human resources, data science, DEI, and the legal field, Fair Pay Workplace Certification honors firms dedicated to true and continuous pay fairness. The rules they’ve set lay the groundwork for a transparent and reliable criterion assessment based on the Fair Pay Workplace’s recognized approach.
