Humana has postponed its employees’ return to work by more than a month. The healthcare behemoth had intended for all of its sites to be fully operating after Labor Day with restricted capacity. Humana said it listened to worried employees and moved the return date to October 18 since the development of the delta variation.
- Protocols: Mark Taylor, director of financial and corporate communications, said all employees, regardless of vaccination status, are highly encouraged to wear a mask in high-traffic areas in Humana offices and facilities.
- Procedures: Chief Medical Officer Dr. William Shrank said unvaccinated employees who must work in a facility are allowed inside as well, but they must follow a protocol that includes routine testing, masking at all times, daily health screenings, temperature checks, and social distancing.
- Medically proven: “Vaccines are medically proven to be the best option to protect yourself and others against the virus, and we highly encourage all associates to get the vaccine and report their vaccination status,” Shrank said in the email.
- Guidance: The Louisville-based health care giant pledged to give employees at least 30 days’ notice before fully opening its facilities and said it will continue to adjust guidance and protocols as needed.
- Announcement: Shrank said fully vaccinated employees are allowed inside their facilities as long as they follow the company’s health and safety protocols.” All along, health and safety is the driving factor behind every decision we’ve made relative to the pandemic, and this latest one is no exception,” he said.
