OSF, a 15-hospital network under The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, is also acquiring and preparing to reopen St. Margaret’s Health-Peru.
Starting from August 8th, patients who are part of BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois Medicaid can now enjoy comprehensive access to all OSF HealthCare hospitals and medical practitioners under their insurance plan.
This coverage encompasses the entirety of the state and notably includes privileges at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois located in Peoria. This esteemed pediatric hospital stands as the third-largest of its kind in the state, as affirmed by the health system’s representatives.
Michael Wells, who serves as the President of OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center based in Peoria and is also the interim President of OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, expressed his enthusiasm about the recently established partnership. In an official press release, he stated, “Through this novel collaboration, we can make a positive impact on the lives of 200,000 individuals. Given our role as a preeminent facility offering top-tier pediatric and neonatal intensive care, it is of paramount importance that patients’ insurance providers offer unwavering support and guarantee seamless access for their members.”
Operated by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, OSF stands as a robust network encompassing 15 hospitals. Notably, the organization is presently acquiring and preparing to reopen St. Margaret’s Health-Peru, an establishment that ceased operations in January.
