This multiyear partnership aims to provide Prime Therapeutics’ members with an improved digital experience, streamlining processes for specialty drug services. Specialty drugs represent a substantial portion of drug spending and are expected to grow. The ScriptMed platform enables self-service refill requests, better coverage determinations, and enhanced financial assistance support. It equips the Magellan Rx team with advanced analytics and real-time connectivity, ultimately delivering more efficient and cost-effective specialty care.
Prime Therapeutics has partnered with Inovalon to enhance its Magellan Rx specialty pharmacy services through cutting-edge cloud-based technology. This collaboration, spanning multiple years, will see the integration of Inovalon’s ScriptMed cloud platform into Prime Therapeutics’ specialty pharmacy operations, as announced by the pharmacy benefit manager.
With the ScriptMed platform in place, Prime Therapeutics aims to provide its members with an improved digital experience, streamlining and simplifying support processes. Specialty pharmacy services have become increasingly crucial within the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) and payer sectors. Prime Therapeutics highlighted that specialty drugs already constitute 55% of the total drug spending, and this percentage is expected to grow.
The incorporation of the ScriptMed platform will enable members to handle refill requests, including tracking and delivery, through self-service options. It will also streamline the coverage determination process, enhancing overall efficiency, as per the joint statement by both companies.
