In New South Wales, a virtual reality program, TACTICS VR, aids emergency nurses in stroke care training, complementing the NSW Telestroke Service. Meanwhile, Silverchain partners with Datos Health to introduce remote patient monitoring in Australia. Icon Group adopts Varian’s HyperSight imaging solution for real-time tumor imaging, initially at the Icon Cancer Centre Holmesglen, with plans for wider implementation. These innovations promise to enhance healthcare services and improve patient outcomes.
1. VR Stroke Care Training for NSW ED Nurses: A virtual reality training program designed for stroke care has been introduced in New South Wales. This innovative program, known as TACTICS VR, was developed collaboratively by the Agency for Clinical Innovation and the University of Newcastle Centre for Advanced Training Systems. TACTICS VR offers an immersive training experience for emergency nurses, enabling them to practice handling real-time stroke scenarios. As part of this initiative, 27 hospitals in the region, including regional, rural, and metropolitan facilities, have been equipped with VR headsets for training purposes. TACTICS VR is set to complement the services provided by the NSW Telestroke Service.
2. Silverchain Adopts Datos Health’s RPM Platform: Silverchain, a prominent home care provider, has joined forces with Datos Health, based in New York, to enhance its virtual care delivery services. Silverchain will be the first organization in Australia to implement Datos Health’s patient care app and remote patient monitoring platform. Initially, these tools will be deployed in Silverchain’s mental health care mode, focusing on older individuals dealing with depression. The Datos Health platform empowers clinicians to remotely monitor and manage patients’ conditions while offering patients self-care tools, personalized care plans, and educational resources.
3. Icon Group Adopts Varian’s Cancer Imaging Solution: Icon Group, a leader in cancer care services, has recently incorporated Varian’s advanced cancer imaging solution into its operations. This cutting-edge technology enables the real-time capture of high-quality tumor images. The Icon Cancer Centre Holmesglen has integrated the HyperSight imaging solution into its Halcyon linear accelerator. Using cone-beam computed tomography, this solution can swiftly capture tumor images in just six seconds. Claire Smith, Icon Group’s Director of Radiation Therapy, has expressed enthusiasm about the early benefits seen by clinical teams and patients. Plans are underway to expand the use of HyperSight across Icon Group’s Australian cancer centers and beyond. HyperSight received approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration in February for use with Varian’s Ethos and Halcyon image-guided radiotherapy systems.
