This collaboration harnesses the collective expertise of both organizations to propel forward innovative solutions in HYPERSCAN IMPT, adaptive therapy, proton arc therapy, and FLASH proton therapy. Key areas of development encompass:
1. RayStation treatment planning system: RaySearch is optimizing treatment planning algorithms to advance the utilization of HYPERSCAN PBS technology. One of the primary objectives is to further enhance existing algorithms to support upright treatments on the cutting-edge MEVION S250-FIT proton therapy platform.
2. RayCare oncology information system: RayCare is designed to efficiently support intricate and advanced clinical processes like adaptive therapy. Mevion has integrated in-room diagnostic CT imaging on the MEVION S250i and MEVION S250-FIT platforms to optimize the application of adaptive therapy. Mevion and RaySearch will collaborate to streamline and standardize the delivery of adaptive proton therapy treatments by integrating these technologies.
3. Proton arc therapy: Arc therapy is an emerging proton therapy delivery technique that optimizes rotational techniques of a gantry or upright patient positioner to precisely target tumors from multiple angles. Mevion’s technology boasts unique capabilities with HYPERSCAN PBS technology featuring pMLC, fast energy switching, and integrated robotic motion control capabilities. RaySearch is developing treatment planning algorithms in RayStation to leverage these advanced technologies.

FLASH proton therapy: FLASH proton therapy is an investigational solution that administers a high dose in a short time, with the aim of significantly reducing treatment durations and minimizing damage to healthy tissue and vital organs. Mevion and RaySearch are pooling their strengths to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of FLASH therapy, facilitating its transition from research to clinical application.
